You can use a kimono for a gown, fling it on and tie the front of a kimono by koshihimo (a sash).
Yukata is the most casual kimono. You can use a yukata for a robe, simply tying the front by a sash. If you use an obi to tie the front, you can go outside too.

In the beginning, it is important to wear a kimono in the basic ways without complicated methods and accessories.

It is a formal and standard way of tying an obi, but a little difficult, and need many supporting accessories. You need to prepare two more Koshihimos, Hand Towel, Obiage, Obijime, and Obimakura for this style.
